Jon Stewart posted big numbers upon his return to Daily show.
Stewart's return to the show late Monday night marked the most-watched episode of a Comedy Central program in five years. It attracted 930,000 viewers, making it the most watched episode since 2018.
The episode simulcast on CMT, Logo, MTV, MTV2, Paramount Network, Pop, and TV Land and added another 920,000 viewers to those networks, bringing the total overnight viewership, including repeats, to 1.85 million.
It was too Daily show Largest rating share since 2015 at 4.21.
Stewart outperformed Trevor Noah's final episode, up 110% compared to the 443,000 views the South African comedian saw as he said goodbye in December 2022. It was also up 160% on that show in the 25-54 demo from viewers.
On social media, Comedy Central said that Monday's episode achieved 11.1 million views across social media platforms.
Stewart returned after nearly nine years to host the show on Monday nights on Comedy Central during the presidential election. He said “I desperately want to have somewhere to unload my thoughts as we go into this election season,” which will likely include a rematch between Joe Biden and Donald Trump for president of the United States.
