The director pointed out during the episode that the actresses were far apart while filming the film. “It seems like you two are very close now, but back then you didn’t have a friendship or relationship at all, right?” Karan Johar asked the actresses. “Not really,” Kajol replied.
Recalling Kajol and Rani’s equation at the time, Karan Johar added: “I was wondering, what kind of families don’t talk to each other, they are cousins.” Then he asked, “Was there an organic distance or were you not close to that side of the family?” Kajol agreed that it was an “organic distance”, adding: “It was an organic distance, honestly. In terms of work, we both liked where we were.”
Rani Mukherjee was asked by KJo: “Did you feel there was a distance when you worked with her?” She replied: “Of course. I knew her when I was a child, and she was always Kajol.” Didi for me. It was a bit strange. You grow older and older, and you don’t really know why. We haven’t seen this much, Kajol Didi I used to stay in the city and we were in Juhu. Tanisha and I were very close and still are. Kajol Didi He was always closer to the boys of the family – my brother and Samrat Da. Yeah, it was a little weird.”
When asked how the two got together again, Rani Mukherjee revealed that it was after they lost their fathers. “More after the death of our fathers,” Rani Mukherjee said. “It’s just an organic thing,” Kajol added. Talking about the changing equation, Rani said, “As a family when you lose your loved ones. I was close to Kajol’s father (Shomo Mukherjee). When you go through tough times and losses, that’s the time when everyone gets close.”
