Laura Linney rejoiced when she was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday.

The three-time Academy Award nominee had a glamorous makeup palette that included mauve lipstick, rosy blush, golden eyeshadow, and dark eyeliner.

Holland Taylor, who starred with Laura on the 1998 science fiction drama The Truman Show, and Ozark Show director Chris Mundy presented the award to the artist.

“This is more frustrating than I thought it would be,” Laura said as she began her acceptance speech, in the Belfast Telegraph.

She continued, “I would have considered it a completely crazy talk, which would have been ridiculous, confusing and unfathomable.

“Even 30 years later, I can tell you that on a daily basis I feel quietly stunned and not quietly delighted to be embraced, not just by Los Angeles itself, but by the industries, companies, and people who call it home.

“Having my name kept and protected by a star along this famous pier is beyond my wildest dreams.”

The Big C graduate said she was honored to serve the arts, which she described as a “medical, illustrative, and nourishing endeavour.”

She added, “So much in this world is a waste of time, we’re wasting what’s precious.

But you can’t go wrong with the time you spend with and around the arts. No matter what your profession or beliefs, the arts are only good for you… they make everyone and everything better.

Holland, 79, praised Laura for her moral generosity, great body of work, and her ability to hide in her roles.

Longtime friend and former Juilliard co-star Jane Triplehorn, 59, was also joined at the party by Laura.

At the ceremony, July 25 was also declared Hollywood’s Laura Linney Day.

The Belfast Telegraph reported that Laura stopped several times during her talk to inquire about the welfare of a man who was heard screaming nearby on Hollywood Boulevard.

“It’s a tough world we live in these days, and things like this intersect all over the place…” she said, at the outlet.

“If this is Laura Linney’s day, I hope we can all keep a little compassion in our hearts and educate ourselves about the needs of others, mental illness, addiction, and all that is laid before us.”
