Laurent Belanger, accused of sexual crimes against minors, may have had multiple victims

Laurent Bélanger was arrested on July 2 by investigators from the Laval Police Department’s Sex Crimes Unit.

According to the SPL, the suspect used social networks to approach and initiate conversations with underage teenage girls over the past year.

“Once trust was established, the suspect would have arranged meetings with the victims, during which he would have engaged in sexual contact,” the SPL notes, adding that investigators have counted victims in several cities across Quebec.

Laurent Belanger appeared in court to face charges of luring a child, sexual interference, solicitation of sexual intercourse and sexual assault.

He was released with conditions following his appearance. His case comes up for hearing again on August 26.
