Laval: One killed near Blaze Bell

A man linked to street gangs was stabbed to death following a fight outside bars in Laval overnight from Saturday to Sunday.

An argument broke out between an undetermined number of people just after 2 a.m. outside a restaurant on rue Claude-Gagné, near Place Belle.

Emergency responders found a man with upper body injuries. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to our information, the victim is Vic Sever Paul, 51 years old.

No one has been arrested in this case yet.

Criminal past

A resident of Saint-Jérôme would have been part of Haitian street gangs, as reported by the media a decade ago.

However, the Laval Police Service has not confirmed whether there is a connection between the altercation and the victim’s criminal history.

Sévère Paul was arrested in 2009 for attempted murder in the Niagara Falls area.

Later, in 2012, he was arrested as part of Operation Lowways, which led to the dismantling of a large criminal network of drug traffickers. He was sentenced to less than two years a day for drug trafficking.

His brother Lamartine Sèvre Paul, a member of the Rouges, was killed in Laval in 2012. His cousin Ducarme Joseph, former leader of the Saint-Michel street gang, was murdered in 2014.
