UK retailer GAME will reportedly reject physical video game trade-ins from February 2024. This news comes from Eurogamerwho spoke to numerous employees across multiple branches of the province's largest video game retailer.
GAME has not made an official announcement to the public yet, but several employees working for the company have confirmed that they have been told that the service will end on February 16. This means you have a month to start your games and trade them for credit.
Note that controllers are not mentioned. After the video game trade-in service ends, GAME will continue to sell pre-owned shares until supplies last. This means that people in the UK will be more limited in where they can trade in their old games – CEX remains the most popular option, where you can trade in your games for store credit or cash.
Online, reactions were almost universally negative, with many responses saying they felt they would do it “There is no reason to go there” Any longer after the retailer stops additional trade.
Eurogamer has reached out to GAME for comment, and we will update this article once the company confirms the news.
