As it rains, many of Saint-Brigitte-de-Laval’s waterfronts are evacuated as a precaution.
A system that caused panic in the northeastern United States is bringing significant amounts of rain to Quebec starting Sunday evening.
In the next 24 hours, rainfall will continue and may reach up to 100 mm at some places. These rains can cause floods and flash floods.
Emergency measures
Ordered by the Municipal Civil Protection Organization (OMSC) of Sainte-Brigide-de-Laval. Preventive evacuation of some of these residentsEspecially those living along the Montmorency River.
The departments of Rang St-Léon, Île Enchanteresse, Remous, Saint-Georges and Deux-Rapides have also received an immediate evacuation notice.
A call to caution
Prime Minister François Legault issued a call for caution on Twitter on Monday afternoon.
Estrie, Centre-du-Québec and Capitale-Nationale will be the most affected by rain. Coastal areas are particularly at risk.
