Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas was placed in a police car after a contractor in his neighborhood said Thomas pushed and threatened him in his parking spot.
It is unclear whether Thomas has been arrested. The Saints confirmed they are aware of the incident and are gathering more details.
The contractor, Luis Sifuentes, told WDSU in New Orleans that around 5:30 p.m. Friday, They threw two bricks at his truck and pushed him.
Sifuentes said he is the project manager for a house being built near Thomas’ home, and that Thomas complained that the construction crew was parking on the street. Cifuentes says Thomas made threatening comments including that Cifuentes’ car would be “bricked or bulleted” if he parked it where Thomas told him not to.
“He drove up, and I saw him get out, and I thought, ‘I don’t know what he’s doing, I’m just worried about my job site,’ and he walked over to this big pile of sand and grabbed it.” A brick, and he threw it at my car, and the guys were like, “Hey, man your truck, your truck!” “Oh, dude, he’s actually doing something, so I grabbed my phone and started recording him, and he grabbed my phone and grabbed me and pushed me,” Sifuentes said.
Sifuentes said he admired Thomas and was shocked by the way Thomas acted.
“I was like, ‘Man, listen, I’ve been rooting for you every Sunday, and I never thought I’d have a problem like this with you,'” I told him. “So, now we’re here,” Sifuentes said.
Thomas, whose career has been plagued by injuries the past three years, has played in all nine games this year. He is third on the Saints in both catches (38) and receiving yards (439). There is no indication that the incident will prevent Thomas from playing Sunday in Minnesota.
