Montreal: 33-year-old man stabbed in Ville-Marie park

A confrontation between two men who knew each other ended in an armed attack that sent a 33-year-old man to hospital in downtown Montreal overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.

The Montreal Police Service (SPVM) was alerted to an armed attack in a park near the intersection of Perry Street and Vicar Avenue East at 12:20 p.m.

When patrol officers arrived at the scene, they treated the man for upper and lower body injuries with a sharp object.

The victim was taken to hospital in a conscious condition with non-life-threatening injuries, SPVM spokesman Anthony Torrelas said.

According to initial reports, a fight broke out between the two after the suspect stabbed the victim and fled before police arrived.

The SPVM has launched an investigation into the armed attack, but the victim has not cooperated with the police in the case, it added.
