A 43-year-old man is in critical condition in hospital after he was stabbed overnight Monday to Tuesday at an apartment in Montreal’s Lachine borough.
Shortly before midnight, Montreal police were notified of a possible stabbing at a home on Louis-Barre Street near 30th Avenue.
At the scene, police officers and emergency responders assisted the victim, who was exposed to a blunt object in the upper and lower body.
He was admitted to hospital where he remains in critical condition.
A 31-year-old woman was arrested by police and taken to an interrogation center where investigators are meeting to determine her connection to the attack.
The motives and circumstances of the attack are currently unclear, said Jean Drouin, spokesperson for the Montreal Metropolitan Police Service (SPVM).
The scene was protected by a security perimeter while awaiting the arrival of investigators and a forensic identification technician, who were to shed light on the incident, it added.
