Montreal police are investigating an arson attack that targeted a hotel in the borough of Saint-Léonard on Friday morning.
Authorities were alerted to the fire at Café Dior, located on rue Jean-Talon Est near rue Michelet, by 911 calls around 4:30 a.m.
Firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department (SIM) had already brought the fire under control when police arrived at the scene.
According to preliminary information, one or more suspects entered the business before fleeing and setting it on fire, according to the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM).
SPVM spokeswoman Carolyn Chevrefils said the business was closed and no one was injured and the damage caused by the fire was minor.
The investigation was transferred to the arson unit of the SPVM, which was to send its teams to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The scene was preserved for investigators while police check to see if possible surveillance cameras captured images of the fire.
