Montreal |  Five arrested for kidnapping

Montreal police arrested five people Sunday in the Rivière-des-Prairies-Pointe-at-Trembles area in connection with the attempted kidnapping of a man they allegedly forced into the trunk of a vehicle.


The Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) reports that it was called to Broadway Avenue near Notre-Dame Street near Hotel-de-Ville Park in the Montreal area – Eastern, Saturday to Sunday at around 2 a.m.

“According to information received from witnesses, a person was pushed into the trunk of the vehicle. Later, the same vehicle was seen entering a garage located not far down Broadway Avenue,” said Agent Véronique Dubuc, spokeswoman for the SPVM.

Fortunately, the victim was found by police inside the building. She was safe and sound and had no injuries. No transport to the hospital is required.

The police force was able to arrest the five men who were taken to a detention center where they are being questioned by investigators during the day on Sunday.

A wide police cordon was erected. Investigators and forensic identification technicians were dispatched to the scene. Specifically, they must view videotapes from nearby surveillance cameras and interview potential witnesses. Agent Tupac explained on Sunday, “We probably had enough all day.
