More than 20 people were injured after a Ferris wheel caught fire during a music festival in Germany on Saturday evening.
Pictures show two amusement rides burning as smoke billows into the air at the Hayfeld Festival near Leipzig.
According to a statement from the Saxony police, the game caught fire shortly after 9 p.m. local time, for reasons that remain unclear.
The statement said that four people suffered burns as a result of the accident, while another person was treated for injuries resulting from the fall.
According to the statement, 18 people, including rescuers, police officers and others on board the bus, were exposed to smoke and were taken to hospitals for medical treatment.
The police have begun their investigation into the incident, and the scene has been cordoned off.
German rapper Ski Ago was performing on stage at the festival when the Ferris wheel caught fire. He later wrote on Instagram that he was “upset and shocked” by the night’s events.
He added that he was told in his ear that he should “not cancel the show under any circumstances” but maintain dialogue with the audience to avoid any mass panic.
