They were not mates.
One woman recalled that love is so blind as a teenager that it took her three months to realize her boyfriend only had one leg.
One TikTok user: “If you thought you weren’t blissfully acquainted, let me tell you about a time I dated a guy for three months before finding out he didn’t have a leg.” @employee I started a viral video which has attracted 2.1 million views since it was posted last month.
“I was 17. I met this boy at a rodeo. I saw him across the road, and I said, ‘Here’s a tall, cool guy, and I need to get him.’ So we exchanged numbers. Three weeks later, we were in love.”
She and her 6-foot-6 boyfriend, whose name she did not disclose, said TikToker, “We’re inseparable. We’ve seen each other, every single day. We’ve spent every waking moment together.”
I admit there are some red flags. She mentions that he wears long pants to summer outdoor events, limps when he walks and prevents her from coming to basketball games.
Then one day, I noticed something was off when I looked at a picture of the two of them together.
“The more I stared at it, the more I felt, ‘I think I’m being scammed,'” she recalls.
“So I took this picture of my friends, and I said, ‘Hey guys, I think my friend might only have one leg.'”
She said her friends were baffled by the accusation and encouraged her to get answers from her lover.
He eventually confessed after a few weeks, she said.
“It’s like ‘I have polio,'” she claimed. “I was like, ‘Listen, I’ve suspected this for two weeks now, and you’ve made it really weird by not telling me.'”
polio, a Highly contagious virus, is very rare, thanks to the polio vaccine approved by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Rockland County Unprotected, New York, resident infected last summer It was the first polio case recorded in the United States since 2013, officials said.
The disease often enters the body through contaminated water and can cause paralysis or death.
TikToker said her boyfriend hasn’t felt the need to share his status since she met him without knowing it. He said he “ran with it.”
“I thought, but, like, three months? Did I hide it for three months?” I admitted, stupid and inconsiderate.
She revealed that the couple dated for another six months, adding, “We were so in love, and then I went to college and destroyed it.”
The three-minute story resonated with many viewers, inspiring some to share their own relationship challenges.
One person claimed, “I dated a guy for 3 months before I realized he had baby hands. How? 🤯”
Another viewer revealed, “I feel a lot less bad now because I spent a whole night not realizing the girl had one arm, hugged me and everything 🤦.”
The others could not bear her ignorance. “Did you all…know…because you didn’t notice a missing leg/prosthesis while at it? That’s funny either way 😂,” one user laughed.
