No Makeup Day: Ladies, take off your masks!

No Makeup Day: Ladies, take off your masks!

Since looks can often be deceiving, women should ditch makeup that hides their natural beauty and prevents them from becoming themselves.

Celebrating No Makeup Day, the Équilibre organization suggests that we reflect on the importance placed on appearance in society.

“In a world where models of beauty are far less diverse, it’s normal to feel great pressure to conform to them,” the organization lamented.

A study cited by Équilibre found that 27% of 14- to 17-year-olds agree to change their photos and appearance on social networks.

22% of young people (18 to 34 years old) have the same opinion, which provides information about the importance of self-esteem and body satisfaction.

The company is particularly concerned with the use of filters and photo editing applications using computer software.

This attitude stems from a concern to present a good image of oneself and one’s body, as if one were in a beauty pageant.

However, Équilibre suggests that retouched content has effects on health, self-esteem and well-being, encouraging people to be themselves.
