Provincial Register
It is a historic day. As you may have noticed, this Saturday was the warmest of November. It’s not just appearances, as heat records have been broken in Quebec. It was in Saint-Anicet that the provincial record was broken with a temperature of 25.3°C. The old provincial record was 25°C from November 10, 2020. This means that Quebec has never been so warm in November since meteorological records began!
Records in Montreal
But that’s not all! Montreal also has its pride, as Montreal officially broke its monthly temperature record this Saturday afternoon with 24.3 degrees Celsius. The previous warm record for November was 22.4°C or almost 2°C from November 10, 2020! Montreal’s monthly humidity record was broken with 26. The last record was 24.6 from November 2, 1971.
Elsewhere in the province
Monthly temperature records were broken in a few cities. For example, 23°C and 22.7°C in Sherbrooke and Beauseville respectively. But more than a dozen cities in Quebec suffer from daily heat records. Across Quebec, temperatures were unusually high and above normal for the season. For example, it was 22.2°C in the Gaspé, but the temperature rose to 22.5°C in Quebec.
Possible entries on Sunday
Although slightly cooler than Saturday, the heat will resume on Sunday. Record heat is possible again in some Quebec cities. This is the case in Montreal, Gaspe and Sherbrooke, for example. The arrival of a system from the south will bring warm air from the Gulf of Mexico. Temperatures will drop gradually from next week onwards.
