The Liberals are “absolutely clear” about the fact that the majority of their elected officials come from the metropolitan area, but they want to be a “constructive official opposition” that speaks for all parts of Quebec.

“We are absolutely clear about the results of the elections on October 3rd. Our representatives come from the large metropolitan areas of Laval, Monterrey and Outaïs. This is a fact,” declared Dominic Anglade during his speech at the inauguration of the Liberal parliamentary wing on Tuesday morning.
Nevertheless, this situation did not “in any way disqualify” the Liberals from representing the citizens of other regions, which he immediately qualified for.
“Quebec is not a collection of regions opposed to each other, but a region whose parts are complementary, whose elements are indivisible populations and it is our responsibility to meet with all Quebecers in all regions to bring their priorities back to Quebec,” the Liberal leader added.
Dominic Anglehead declared that the Liberals would be a “resolutely constructive” opposition but ensure the government honors its commitments and acts in the interests of future generations.
“Let the government take it for granted: no mandate can detract from the duty to respect the equality of citizens and from the acknowledged performance of the institutions and traditions of our democratic society,” he said.
The Liberal leader also expressed concern about “growing polarization” and “eroding faith in our democratic institutions”. He appealed to all elected officials to discharge their duties.
