A carefree young man, just 22 years old, faces a long prison sentence for shooting three strangers in the middle of the DIX30 district.

On July 29, 2023, Badreddin El Idam discharged his gun in the middle of a parking lot, near a bar, causing panic.
His crime was captured by surveillance cameras at Quartier DIX30 in Brossard.
Just after 2:30 am, the accused was traveling in a car with his friend Gabriel Auclair when they stopped in front of a group. Auclair challenged them to a fight, and one of them complied.
Later during the fight, El Aidam surprised the group by brandishing a pistol.
One shot after another
He shot first one of those near the stage, then another. Both victims fell to the ground.
He ran away after putting a projectile into the stomach of the person who was fighting with Auclair.
Thanks to a description of the vehicle provided by a witness, they were arrested minutes later.
Badreddin El Idam still had the murder weapon, hidden in the front of his vest.
El Idam faces multiple charges, including attempted murder.
Instead, he pleaded guilty to pointing the gun at three victims he did not know.

One of the individuals, Pierre-Luc Boisselle, is suffering severe consequences for this senseless crime. His sciatic nerve was severed by a projectile and he is paralyzed in one leg.
Alexandre Urbain-Lapierre, who was hit in the abdomen, was ill for several days. He also had to undergo several surgeries and to this day it is not known if he will regain full movement in his leg.
The third victim, Alcides Eduardo Plata Corpus, has a complete reconstruction of the thigh and still has difficulty walking. The man says he has many more dreams.
El Idam has been detained since his arrest. And he stays in the shadows for a long time.
Over a decade in the dark?
His lawyer Me Gary Martin suggested to the court that a sentence of more than 11 years could be recommended during sentencing submissions later this autumn.

If he serves the full sentence, the accused, at the dawn of his twenties, will have spent a third of his life behind bars for his foolish act.
His friend Gabriel Auclair was also charged and pleaded guilty to being in a vehicle with a firearm. He received a reduced sentence of two years a day for community service.
The driver of the vehicle at the time of their arrest, Daphne Latrey, recently saw charges dropped.
