The town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador declared a state of emergency Friday evening after “multiple explosions” occurred during an uncontrolled fire near explosives.
Officials are asking residents to stay at least one kilometer away from the area that stretches from the end of the airport to the docks. Anyone needing assistance with evacuation is asked to call 709-896-3084.
Currently, five arteries are directly affected: Halifax, Toronto, Winnipeg, London Streets and Ottawa Avenue.
The fire broke out in the old airport tower in the Strachan Building near the old Vulcan hangar.
Officials said there were no injuries. A local SPCA Located in the same area. The mayor said arrangements are being made to ensure the safety of the animals.

For the safety of the public, property owners are strongly encouraged not to visit their property during this time.
In a press release issued just after 10pm local time, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) announced.
