A learner driver drove directly into the main window of a branch of the National Bank at Avenue Nordic in Bayport, around noon today.
A young driver would have accelerated and confused the brake when it was time to stop in front of the establishment. One of his parents was with him when the accident took place.
The two occupants of the vehicle feared injury. They survived with minor injuries.
“The driver was able to recover his vehicle himself from this unfortunate situation. It was an incorrect maneuver that caused material damage,” explains Sandra Dion, spokeswoman for the Quebec City Police Service.
No one was inside the building, which was closed for the day due to Good Friday.
It’s the second time in the last 10 days that a driver has crashed into the front of a shopping mall in Quebec City. On March 30, a septuagenarian crashed his car into the window of a La Haye flower shop in Neufchatel.
