A child’s body was found Monday in a residential swimming pool in Southier-Appalachian. His death was confirmed a few hours later at a local hospital.

Around noon, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) was called to assist paramedics in relation to a cardiorespiratory arrest on rue Dufresne in Saint-Apollinaire.
“Revival maneuvers were performed on the body. The victim was taken to a hospital in Quebec, where there is reason to fear for his life,” explained SQ spokeswoman Hélène St-Pierre.
Subsequently, around 5 pm, the police confirmed that the child had died. An autopsy involving major crime investigators is underway into the death of a 6-year-old child.

Neighbors met at the site said they were still in shock hours after the tragedy.
