One person was killed and several others injured in an explosion at a Dorval mall on Friday morning.
The explosion occurred just after 11 a.m. at Polymer Source, a company specializing in research and development in the polymer industry, located on Avro Avenue in Dorval’s industrial sector.

According to officials, the explosion occurred while chemicals were being handled in a laboratory.
A laborer was reportedly injured in the chest in the blast. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Some workers were also reported to have suffered minor injuries.

Due to the presence of chemicals, firefighters intervened with extreme caution within the company’s walls.
By early afternoon, the intervention was still underway.
Inspectors from the Commission for Standards, Equity, Health and Safety at Work (CNESST) were due to visit the scene to try to establish the circumstances of this fatal work accident.
