[PHOTOS] More shootings in Montreal’s northern red-light district

Montreal police are investigating a shooting in Montreal North’s red light district Tuesday evening.

The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) was alerted around 9:30 p.m. by calls to 911 about explosions heard on rue Lapierre near rue Pascal.

When they arrived at the scene, police found shell casings on Lapierre Street, but found no injuries at the site or bullet holes in the buildings.

According to initial information, a suspect opened fire on rue Lapierre and fled before police arrived, SPVM spokeswoman VĂ©ronique Dubuc said.

“At this time, investigators have not been able to determine the target of her scenes or the motive behind this gesture,” publicist Tupac said.

A security perimeter was set up to secure the scene while awaiting the arrival of investigators and forensic identification technicians.

The SPVM canine unit was also requested at the site to assist in the search for evidence surrounding the circumstances surrounding the shooting, it added.
