Pig carcasses were hung from overpasses in Montreal

Pig carcasses were found hanging from overpasses at various locations in Montreal early Thursday morning. A spiteful gesture or a really bad joke? The police have now mysteriously swam.

In all cases, they were frozen pig carcasses. Three incidents occurred within a radius of 1,500 meters in the borough of Rosemont-La Petite-Patri.

Police were first alerted to the 3:30 a.m. call from a witness who saw the carcass of a pig hanging from the viaduct overlooking Rue des Carrières and Avenue Christophe-Columb.

About 90 minutes later, 700 meters away, another frozen pig was found by patrollers hanging from the viaduct on rue des carriers near avenue Papineau.

The carcass of the third pig was found hanging from the overpass at the corner of rue Dundurand and avenue de Lorimier about 30 minutes later.

For now, Montreal police are refusing to offer any theory to explain these three infamous incidents.

“Investigation has been initiated from our side. The reason behind these actions is unknown,” said Caroline Chevrefils, spokeswoman for the SPVM.

In the next few hours, the police will look at the images from the surveillance cameras installed in the area and try to unravel the mystery of the case.
