The Pittsburgh Steelers Continuing to build their 2022 roster with 53 players. With so many cuts taking place, the Steelers are also willing to look outside their organization to improve their team. In what’s their second trade of the day for the Steelers, they got frontman Jesse Davis from Minnesota Vikings.
Jesse Davis, a non-designer from Idaho in 2015, signed with Seattle Seahawks But they didn’t make the 53-player roster or land on the coaching squad. After the season, Davis signed a backup/future contract with New York Jets But again the list of 53 men was not made. He spent several weeks on the Jet coaching staff late in the season. After being released by New York, he signed for Miami Dolphin Training squad to finish 2016.
In 2017, Davis made the Dolphins roster and appeared in all 16 games with 10 starts. In five seasons in Miami, Davis made 80 appearances in 72 appearances across various positions on the offensive line. In 2021, Davis played 15 games in the right tackle with two games on the left guard. In his career, Davis played every position across the offensive line except for the center.
In March, Davis signed with the Minnesota Vikings on a one-year deal worth $3 million and a $1.5 signing bonus. Assuming the Steelers inherit Davis’ contract without renegotiations, he is set to calculate $1.5 million against the salary cap in 2022.
As for compensation, it has been reported that the Steelers will forgo a seventh-round conditional draft in 2025.
