Prince Harry claims the palace approved Meghan Markle’s ripped jeans

When Meghan Markle first appeared on the royal scene in ripped jeans and a white T-shirt, she made a lot of headlines — but not all for the right reasons.

In his new memoir, ‘Spare,’ Prince Harry claims his then-girlfriend’s outfit at the 2017 Invictus Games in Toronto – consisted of the mother’s ‘Looker’ frayed jeans ($174, originally $248), white “husband” shirt ($255) to her friend Misha Nonoo W Sarah Flint Flats “Natalie” ($ 450) – the palace “approved”.

But after negative press and online trolls claimed Markle wasn’t appropriately dressed for his royal girlfriend, the prince thought something more could be done.

“One ad defending Meg was enough to make a massive difference,” he wrote, referring to the hate Markle was receiving online at the time.

While Buckingham Palace is never in the habit of commenting on a family member’s choice of dress, let alone defending it, Harry writes that “nobody” in the Palace defended the “Suits” actress.

Writing about the Invictus experience—which he described as the “perfect occasion” for their debut due to the games being held in Toronto, where Markle lived at the time—Harry said the pair focused their attention “on the game and the good cause” versus “clicking for the cameras.”

Although both were “nervous” about being officially announced as a married couple, the duke said the couple had “hid from the world for far too long”.
