Red Lobster adds to list of Indiana restaurant closures – Indianapolis News | Indiana weather | Indiana Traffic

(WISH) – Struggling restaurant chain Red Lobster will close five locations in Indiana, adding three more since it announced nationwide closures just a few days ago.

Here is a list of seafood restaurant closings in Indiana:

The Indianapolis and Elkhart restaurants closed in May, according to Red Lobster’s website.

In Indianapolis, two Red Lobster locations remain open: 6410 E. 82nd St. and 690 E. Thompson Road. Other locations in Indiana that will remain open include locations in Avon, Anderson, Bloomington, Columbus, Fort Wayne, Lafayette, Muncie and Terre Haute, the website showed Thursday.

Red Lobster, which brought affordable shrimp and lobster to America’s middle class and grew into the world’s largest seafood restaurant chain, filed for bankruptcy in May.

Red Lobster said it had more than $1 billion in debt and less than $30 million in cash on hand. It plans to sell its business to its lenders, and in return, it will receive financing to survive. Part of its plan is to close some locations of its nearly 600 restaurants in the meantime.

Nationally, restaurants that will close include the iconic restaurant in Times Square in New York City.
