Royal commentator Camilla Tominey said it was important that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not take the spotlight from working family members, including Princess Anne, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Earl and Countess of Wessex.
She said it was important that next month’s celebrations be around the Queen.
Speaking to The Telegraph: “You can include the Sussexes, but you don’t want the kind of sideshow for Harry and Meghan when the main event is HMQ the Queen, likewise there will be other members of the royal family still doing the daily grind who will resent being overshadowed by Harry. And Megan even if they don’t admit it.
“You wouldn’t want to have the likes of Princess Anne and the Earl and the Countess of Wessex for example planting trees day in and day out unveiling paintings and going into royal envelopes just to get the media to focus completely on Harry and Meghan who have absolutely no role in the so-called family.” .
Her comments come ahead of the Queen’s platinum jubilee, which takes place from June 2 to June 5, which Harry and Meghan said they were “excited and honored” to attend.
But the couple will not join the Queen on the balcony of Buckingham Palace because this privilege is limited only to working members of the company.
This will be the first time the Queen will meet Prince Harry’s daughter, Lillibit Diana.
