Sasha Banks pulled the plug on Boss Time on “Monday Night Raw” — literally.
WWE confirmed to The Post that the WWE star and her female tag teammate Naomi “came out” from the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia ahead of their match on Monday. PWInsider was the first to report The husband leaves the building.
Banks and Naomi arrived at the arena and were informed that they would be participating in the main event, “Monday Night Raw,” according to WWE. The announced match was that Banks, Naomi, Becky Lynch, Asuka, Doddrup and Nikki Ash would participate in a six-pack challenge match to determine the next person who would face Bianca Belair for the Raw Women’s Championship at Hell in a Cell. Pay-per-view later this month.
Apparently Banks and Naomi objected to the match. Naomi was to win, According to Fightful Select.
“During the broadcast, they walked into the office of Chief Talent Relationships John Laurinaitis with their bags in hand, put their Tag Team Championship belts on his desk and walked out,” WWE said in a statement. “They claimed that they were not respected enough as team champions. And although they had eight hours to train and build their match, they claimed that they were uncomfortable in the ring with two of their opponents – even though they had had matches with these individuals in the past without any consequences.” .
According to reports, Banks has conveyed her concerns directly to WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, who has opted not to change the design. Fightful Select also stated that Banks and Naomi’s issues were primarily rooted in the plans proposed for them as the tag team champions rather than the women they were to work with.
WWE focused on the show by having Lynch frantically approached on-screen WWE official Adam Pierce to tell him Banks and Naomi left the building. The match was turned into a singles competition between Lynch and Asuka, which ended up winning.
In the broadcast, commentator Corey Graves reminded them that they left the building several times during the show, so it’s always possible to use the incident in an onscreen corner in the future.
“Sasha Banks and Naomi walked away with a summary and unprofessional,” Greaves said.
Last minute changes are pretty much the norm before WWE shows as the creativity is very fluid, but this incident doesn’t seem to match up with the company.
“Monday Night Raw is a scripted live television show, and its characters are expected to perform the requirements of their contract,” WWE said. “We regret that we were unable to deliver tonight’s main event as announced.
