Seahawks elevate QB Sean Mannion and S Ty Okada from the practice squad

The Seahawks elevated quarterback Sean Mannion and safety Tai Okada from the practice squad ahead of Monday night’s game against the Eagles.

They give the Seahawks additional depth at their position with both quarterback Geno Smith and safety Jamal Adams listed as questionable for the game.

Smith missed last week’s game with a hip injury, leading to Drew Lock making his first start with the Seahawks. Smith was limited in practice all week, and Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Smith “made it through the week. He succeeded in the job he did. He’s still questionable and we’ll wait and see what happens on game day.”

Adams had a limited workload all season due to a torn quadriceps tendon that ended his 2022 season, but he did not participate this week in practice Thursday, Friday or Saturday.

“He’s a great player, and I’m trying to maximize his recovery and make sure he’s available to us as much as we can get him,” Carroll said of Adams. “So we helped him this week as much as we could.”

Mannion, who spent time with the Seahawks in training camp two seasons ago and on the practice squad last season, signed with Seattle last week and served as Lock’s backup for last weekend’s game against the 49ers. Okada, an undrafted rookie out of Montana State, was also promoted for Seattle’s Week 11 game against the Rams.
