A karate teacher arrested last May for abusing young boys has seen his case grow with 61 new charges for all kinds of sex crimes after he claimed 11 victims, sometimes as young as 7.

Réal Chayer, of Saint-Lin-Laurentides, faced several new charges this afternoon. A total of 65 charges have been filed against him so far, including sexual abuse of minors, sexual assault and sexual contact with children under the age of 14.
Despite the serious charges against Sayer, he remained unmoved as he appeared before a judge via video conference in Joliet court.
The 59-year-old is a karate instructor, but also a referee in the division, according to our information.
Sayer allegedly committed his crimes over a period of more than 20 years – between 2001 and 2022 – in several cities, including Repentigny, Laval and Saint-Lin-Laurentides.
“We are talking about new alleged victims [médiatisation] His first arrest. The investigation is still ongoing,” explained Sûreté du Québec (SQ) spokesperson Lt. Benoît Richard.
In a position of authority
At least one of the victims was 7 years old when the alleged abuse took place. These are minors, we learned, for alleged actions in a sports-related environment. A publication ban protects their identity.
The karate teacher was in a position of authority over many of them, according to an arrest warrant issued against him.
According to the Quebec Business Registry, he is still registered as the sole owner of the Trakshido Martial Arts School located in Rebenzini.
On December 31, four days after an arrest warrant was issued against him, photos were shared on Dragshido Academy's Facebook page, in which we see Real Sayer, all smiles.
Detained
However, last May he was arrested for the first time by the Sûreté du Québec. He was then accused of sexually assaulting two minor boys.
The accused was able to regain his freedom by respecting certain conditions at that time. But now given his impressive record, the Crown opposed his release on Monday. He is due back in court tomorrow for further legal proceedings.
