Simone Biles offers support for Mikaela Shiffrin amid criticism of Winter Olympics: ‘People suck’

Simone Biles Give some words of encouragement to Michaela Shiffrin after the tough show by the star skater at Winter Olympics in Beijing.

Shiffrin lamented in a lengthy social media post on Thursday the criticism she faces after failing to take the medal in five singles races and with three unfinished marks.

But Bills, who had gone through her own struggle, hung on two honors Instagram shareReminding her that “people are miserable”.

“I know this very well,” Biles wrote. “I’m sorry you have this! Bad people….! Go kick some on Saturday! But most importantly, embrace the moment. Enjoy. I love you!!!!”

Shiffrin entered the Olympics as one of the favorites by winning the Olympic gold medal in 2014, 2018 and several world championships under her belt. She was also a leader in the rankings of the World Cup.

After speaking to reporters about her latest failure on Thursday, Shiffrin responded to critics in a lengthy statement.

“Well kids…feed them whatever you want to feed them. Self-pity, sadness…let the turkeys bring you down. There will always be turkeys. Or you rise again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. ,” I wrote.

“Get up because you can, because you love what you do when you’re not full of people who have so much obvious hatred for you. Just get up. It’s not always easy, but it’s also not the end of the world to fail. Fail twice. Fail 5 times. In the Olympics (Enter me.. .)

“Why do I keep coming back? Oh my God knows it hurts more than I’ve been feeling lately. I’m back because those first 9 courses today were amazing, really heaven. This is where I’m supposed to be and I’m stubborn like s–. So let’s go. For some group training tomorrow, and the last alpine race for the Olympics on Saturday.”

Shiffrin told reporters she was not “afraid” of criticism that might come her way.

“It’s going to be a complete mess…People are saying how amazingly you’ve failed in the last few weeks in moments that really counted,” the two-time gold medalist said. “It’s really weird, but I’m not afraid of it now. Probably because I don’t have any emotional energy to give away anymore.”

Shiffrin has one last event – Team Alpine – potentially winning a medal.
