Source – Lions midfielder Jahmire Gibbs suffers hamstring injury in training

ALLEN PARK, Mich. — Detroit Lions linebacker Jahmire Gibbs suffered a hamstring injury during practice Monday night, a source told ESPN.

Gibbs was assessed with a leg injury after leaving a training session early, though it was not clear in which game he was injured.

Gibbs, 22, is coming off a Pro Bowl rookie season in which he rushed for 945 yards and 10 touchdowns along with 316 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown.

He was named a finalist for the Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year award after playing a huge role in Detroit’s run to the NFC Championship.

He told ESPN earlier this month that he aims to become just the fourth player in NFL history to record 1,000 receiving yards and 1,000 rushing yards in the same season, joining Christian McCaffrey, Marshall Faulk and Roger Craig.

“A lot of great receivers have done that, Christian McCaffrey has done that,” Gibbs told ESPN. [Alvin Kamara] “It was close. Marshall Falk did it. I would like to be in that category. There are only a certain number of people who have done it.”

Detroit’s rookie cornerback Tyrion Arnold also left practice early after being evaluated for an upper-body injury, while fellow rookie Ennis Rackstraw Jr. was checked with an ankle injury.
