There are a lot of spaceships that you can access Starfield, a lot of very cool games that you can buy and/or steal from your enemies. However, stealing things can be dangerous to your health at the best of times, and buying things, well…costs money.
However, if you want to get a very nice ship for free early in the game, we know exactly where to find it. Let’s get gander.
Starfield: How to get a free ship early in the game
Very early in the game, during the main campaign mission “The Old Neighborhood,” you’ll pick up a note titled “Secret Outpost!” Read this note in your inventory and You will be given a task to find The Mantis in their hideout.
You can find the note in the Nova Galactic Staryard, and it will drop from an enemy there randomly, as well as randomly during The Old Neighborhood from one of the first enemies.
This is a fairly short mission that requires a bit of shooting and solving a single puzzle, the solution of which you can find here. Once you make your way through all of that You’ll find yourself in the Mantis Lair, a sort of large Batcave that’s worth exploring for some cool loot.
Along with a few weapons and other bits and bobs, you’ll also get your hands on them Mantis suit and, most importantly Razorleaf shipwhich is a kind of belt.
At the beginning of the game, it was difficult to afford this kind of thing, so be sure to grab that note in The Old Neighborhood Quest and immediately set out to complete this special quest with one of the best rewards in the game. Don’t leave this specific side quest on your log!
