A man wanted in connection with the murders of three women on Tuesday night – the wife and two daughters of a BBC journalist – has been found after a manhunt.

Kyle Clifford, who police warned was possibly armed with a crossbow, was found in the Enfield area of ​​north London on Wednesday afternoon and is currently receiving treatment for injuries, Hertfordshire Police said in a statement.

Police earlier said they were searching for a 26-year-old man named Kyle Clifford in connection with the deaths, who may be in the British capital or neighbouring Hertfordshire.

Police were called to a house in Bushey, Hertfordshire, on Tuesday evening where they found three women with serious injuries who later died from their injuries.

The BBC said on Wednesday that the victims of the three murders had been identified as the wife of BBC sports commentator John Hunt, Carol Hunt, and his two daughters Hannah Hunt and Louise Hunt. Police earlier said the dead, aged 25, 28 and 61, were killed in what was believed to be a “targeted incident”.

A crossbow is believed to have been used in the triple homicide, although police said Wednesday that other weapons may have been used as well.

A British Ministry of Defence source told CNN that Clifford left the British Army in 2022 after a short period of service. His former military superior told CNN that he first joined in 2019 and served in the Royal Cavalry.

The BBC described the deaths of the two women as “deeply devastating” in a statement to staff. The corporation said it would offer “all the support we can” to Hunt as part of the memo sent to BBC 5 Live staff.

The company added: “The news today about John Hunt’s family is devastating. Our thoughts are with John and his family at this incredibly difficult time and we will offer him all the support we can.”

British Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said the police were keeping her updated.

“The loss of the lives of three women in Bushey last night is truly shocking,” Cooper wrote on X Wednesday. “My thoughts are with the families and friends of those killed and with the community.”

“I will continue to keep you updated. I would urge people to support Hertfordshire Police with any information about this case,” she added.

“I would see them every day passing by and saying good morning,” a neighbour of the victims told PA Media.

“What happened is really sad and very shocking,” she added.
