Taylor Swift performs in Munich amid fans’ hopes for an announcement

As night fell in Munich, Germany, Taylor Swift held her acoustic guitar over her shoulder and smiled.

“Welcome to the vocal group,” she said, wearing an orange dress and strumming some strings. “This is the part of the show I look forward to every night.”

During tonight’s show, fans were anticipating an announcement because Swift’s team had done a 15-minute livestream on YouTube three hours earlier. One user on the livestream of the concert noted that during the “Red” era, “she was wearing the first version of Taylor!!!” — but it’s not unusual for her to wear a sparkly, sequined shirt that says “This is not Taylor’s Version” during her song “22.”

What is unusual is the live streaming on YouTube.

Taylor Nation’s marketing and PR team, which works with Swift, rarely use live streaming on the Eras Tour. The only exceptions are the announcement nights for “The Tortured Poets Department” releases, the re-releases of “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” and “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” albums, and the music video releases for “Karma” and “I Can See You.” (The only time Taylor Nation’s live stream didn’t go anywhere was the first night in Singapore, when they streamed for five minutes during Swift’s acoustic show. The following night, they went live again to announce Swift’s “Black Dog” version of “Tortured Poets.”)

Sure enough, fans thought she had an announcement up her sleeve.

The singer performed Mix of “I Don’t Want to Live Forever” From the soundtrack to the movie “Fifty Shades Darker” with “imgonnagetyouback” from “Tortured Poets”.

Swift put down her guitar and sat at the piano to mix her songs “loml” from “Tortured Poets” and “Don’t You” from “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)”.

After she finished, she headed to the Eras Tour stage, leaving behind the possibility of hearing any new news.

Taylor Nation Live on Youtube

The 15-minute live audition was streamed on YouTube during Paramore’s performance. The video was taken down shortly after sending Swifties into a frenzy.

Paramore is Swift’s opening act as she makes her way through 18 European cities. During the live stream, the art director cut to different tight shots of the instruments, wide shots of the massive set-up and medium shots of lead singer Hayley Williams taking the stage. The live stream was filtered through restream.youa company that enables Fortune 500 companies, media outlets, politicians, and celebrities to reach, engage, and monetize their audiences.

Alexander Khoda, CEO and Co-Founder of Restream.io, Forbes magazine stated in 2015 “His company delivers video content directly to over 30 services like Youtube, Twitch, and Ustream simultaneously. Creators stream to our server and we multiply their streams and deliver them to streaming services. Creators don’t need to multiply their bandwidth, Restream covers it on our end.”

One of the benefits of his project, Khoda added, is that it allows creators to “generate more revenue.”

Swift expressed her gratitude to Germany on Sunday night during the “Lover” segment of her show.

“We are lucky enough to be performing in front of 74,000 beautiful people inside this stadium. If the reports are correct, there are about 50,000 beautiful people outside the stadium,” said the star, who wore a purple suit.

The roar of the crowd could be heard through the open-air stadium to the hills surrounding Munich’s Olympiapark. Fans who covered every inch of the green grass were enjoying Taylor’s three-hour free concert in the adjacent park. “Thank you for coming to the Eras Tour whether you’re in the stadium or out,” Swift said. “We’re so lucky to be here with you and this is a really special night because this is our last show in Germany. I can’t tell you how amazing the German fans have been to us over the past few weeks.”

Swift stayed nine nights and eleven afternoons in Germany: three in Gelsenkirchen, two in Hamburg, and two in Munich.

“I’m going to be so sad to leave you, but we’ll be back, and we’ll be back to see you. Don’t forget that,” Swift said. Swift has three cities left on her European tour. She will wrap up her trip on Aug. 20 in London, England.
