Motorists must be patient to take one of the crossings between the two rivers in the Quebec area. The Quebec Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility will carry out major work there for most of the summer.
Autoroute Henri-IV to Boulevard Champlain and Boulevard Champlain to Autoroute Henri-IV southbound lanes will be closed from June 27 to August 10.
According to MTQ, these restrictions will be in effect during the holidays to rebuild a culvert on Boulevard Champlain.
“This intervention is planned in a project to redevelop the interchanges north of the Pierre-Laporte and Quebec bridges,” spokeswoman Emily Lord explained in a press release.
A long detour
These major roadblocks will force users to make several detours in this sector, especially for those who want to go from the Henri-IV Highway to Champlain Boulevard.
According to the route proposed by the MTQ, they should cross the Pierre-Laporte bridge and return, taking the Route des Rivières at Lévis, five kilometers away. They have to take the car connection again to access the exit to the boulevard.
Therefore, the Ministry of Transport is asking motorists to “choose alternative routes for their journeys” to avoid the workplaces.
