The 2023 Toyota Prius is the most fuel-efficient car in the lineup

Toyota has Unveil the latest Prius at an event on the eve of the 2022 Los Angeles Auto Show, and says the model is the most fuel-efficient in the lineup yet. The company designed 2023 Prius, which will be in LE, XLE and Limited grades, with a lower center of gravity, wider stance and lower driving position. The roofline is two inches lower than its predecessor, and it’s about an inch wider in the rear. Toyota was clearly going for a sportier, more modern look, aided by the XLE’s larger wheels and Limited variants.

Of course, the new Prius comes with performance improvements, too. It uses Toyota’s fifth-generation hybrid powertrain and a new lithium-ion battery, which offers a 15 percent increase in output over the lineup’s older nickel-metal battery technology. This means that the company was able to develop a smaller and lighter battery for the car without compromising its performance. But since the Prius is still a hybrid and doesn’t rely solely on electricity for power generation, Toyota has also equipped it with a larger 2-liter gas engine.

The automaker says the front-wheel-drive variants have a 194-horsepower output and can go from 0 to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds, faster than 9.8 seconds for the outgoing AWD vehicles. All-Wheel Drive models feature an output of 196 horsepower and the ability to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 7 seconds. All models have three driving modes: Eco, which boosts fuel economy, and Power and Sport modes, which increase throttle response.

Other features include six USB-C ports and the Toyota Audio Multimedia System with Apple CarPlay And the Android Auto Compatibility. Toyota’s Connected Service Connect engine gives owners access to an intelligent assistant that can follow voice commands and cloud navigation, which can download the latest available maps, traffic, and routing information from the cloud. And just in case drivers are having a really hard time finding their way to their next destination, they can also use Destination Assist to speak to a live agent at any time of the day.

To assist the driver, the car has Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, as well as Front and Rear Park Assist with Automatic Braking on all variants. The Limited Edition has a panoramic head-up display that provides a live, rotating 360-degree view around the vehicle and a hands-free system that can assist drivers with parallel parking or reversing into a parking space.

Additionally, the 2023 Prius will come with Toyota’s latest generation Safety Sense, which enables a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection and lane departure alert with steering assist and cruise control. A new addition to this feature, and to the Prius as a whole, is the Predictive Driving Assist that enables gentle braking into turns or when it senses a vehicle, pedestrian or cyclist in front of the vehicle.

Toyota has yet to reveal pricing and availability for the 2023 Prius, but it promises to make another announcement with these details before the end of the year.
