This new global campaign, called “Law for Ukraine,” will allow Ukrainians, including Canadians, to lend their support.
For this event, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the European Commission in collaboration with the international organization Global Citizen will organize a donors’ conference, which will be the “highlight” of this particular day.
“Today, our message to the people of Ukraine is this: we stand with you. When we all work together, we can provide a better solution for the people who were forced to flee because of President Putin’s illegal and unjustified invasion of Ukraine, “the Canadian prime minister said in a statement on Saturday.
On February 24, President Zhelensky called on the people of the world to unite to help his war-torn people. To date, nearly 3.8 million Ukrainians have fled the country.
“On April 9, there will be a huge rally on social media in support of the people who are being forced to leave Ukraine. Everyone is invited to participate: musicians, actors, athletes, businessmen, politicians, everyone who wants to join this movement and ‘work for Ukraine’,” Zhelensky said.
For its part, the European Commission has begun a heartfelt cry on behalf of the Ukrainian people. “Since the beginning of the war, the Ukrainian child has become a refugee every second. The world must help them. […] The courageous Ukrainian people deserve the unity of citizens and governments around the world, ”said its leader, Ursula van der Leyen.
