Some rumors have claimed that Samsung will launch the Galaxy S24 earlier than usual, and that indeed appears to be the case. A new report from South Korea confirms that Samsung will launch its next-generation flagship smartphone series in January 2024 to compensate for the sluggish performance of its semiconductor chipset division.
Galaxy S24 launch date is January 17, 2024
a Report from SBS Biz Samsung claims that Samsung will launch the Galaxy S24 on January 17, 2024 in San Francisco, USA. The company has reportedly finalized its plans for the launch event and has begun preparations. It also confirms that the Galaxy S23 FE will be launched in South Korea on December 1, 2023, at a price of 800,000 Korean won (about $600). It has been three years since the launch of the Fan Edition Galaxy S series smartphone in South Korea. People in South Korea prefer high-end phones, but Samsung decided to launch the Galaxy S23 FE as an affordable model due to the ongoing economic downturn and market slowdown.
The South Korean company is reportedly looking at the Galaxy S24 series as the company’s savior amid tough times. The report claims that the Galaxy S24 will be an “AI phone” featuring generative AI like ChatGPT and Dall-E. Samsung has already announced its in-house Exynos 2400 processor and revealed that it features a 30% faster GPU, a 70% faster GPU, and a 14.7x faster NPU. It can perform on-device AI processing, allowing for generative AI features, such as text-to-image conversion. Samsung is also said to be bringing a titanium frame to the Galaxy S24 Ultra, similar to the new iPhone 15 Pro series. All the devices are rumored to feature Dynamic AMOLED 2x LTPO displays with up to 2,500 nits of brightness.
Samsung usually launches its new Galaxy S series phones at the end of February every year, and begins shipping the phones in early March. However, the company launched the Galaxy S23 in early February and started shipping it before the end of the month. With the Galaxy S24 series, the phones will launch early (mid-January 2024) and could start shipping devices by the end of that month.

Diary: Samsung’s semiconductor chip division typically brings in most of the company’s revenue. However, since last year, demand for semiconductor chips has declined due to the market decline, resulting in terrible sales and falling prices of memory chips. As a result, Samsung Electronics’ gross operating profit fell by 96% in the first quarter of 2023, and its semiconductor division reported its first loss in its history in the second quarter of 2023. Its huge losses were mitigated by strong sales of high-end smartphones, Including Galaxy S23, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Z Fold 5.
While the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 performed well during the pre-order period, their sales fell to lower than expected levels. Hence, to compensate for the drop in sales, Samsung could launch the Galaxy S24 series earlier than usual. It’s also a tactic that could be aimed at keeping competition from Apple’s iPhone 15 lineup in check.
