The second Canadian warship to be a NATO reinforcement

The ship “HMCS Halifax” set sail Saturday from the port of Halifax in Nova Scotia to join NATO forces already in the waters of northern Europe since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Defense Minister Anita Anand was at the scene when 253 Canadian Armed Forces members departed.

“Canada’s commitment to NATO is strong. Since 2014, we have consistently stationed a warship with NATO. Given the current threats, we are doubling our contribution, ”the minister wrote on Twitter.

“HMCS Montreal” already took the Mediterranean and Black Sea direction last January.

“The increased presence of the Royal Canadian Navy in Europe will enhance NATO capabilities and demonstrate Canada’s commitment to security and stability,” he added.
