A young offender who pimped girls aged 12 and 13 will be jailed for four years, an exemplary sentence as the scourge of pimping continues to wreak havoc.
“We must admit that this is a significant prison sentence for this social catastrophe, with all the devastation it causes,” Judge Nancy McKenna ruled Wednesday morning in court in Saint-Jerome. The accused bears full responsibility. »
In late May 2020 Simon became Ford’s first victim. A 12-year-old girl ran from her home in Saint-Lin-Laurentides, Lanadier, to join him.
Over the next few hours, en route to Montreal, the perpetrator drove to Toronto and attempted to convince the victim to prostitute himself.
She lived in a penthouse and had many advantages hanging over her, including the fact that she could wear fancy clothes.
Ford then tried, without success, to find a cheaper motel that would allow the victim to return to his hometown.
A rape victim
The then 18-year-old reoffended a month later.
At his home, he tried to recruit a 13-year-old girl and went with her to Toronto, assuring her she would be safe.
According to a summary of facts filed in court, Ford also advanced on the victim, who tried to push him away. However, he managed to subject her to sexual acts.
Ford was arrested a month later by the Sûreté du Québec and has remained in prison ever since.
His victims cannot be identified under a publication ban.
Beyond the sentence, the rapist will be considered a supervised offender for the next five years and will have his name on the sex offenders’ register for the rest of his life.
High risk of recurrence
An evaluation by a psychologist at the National Institute of Forensic Psychiatry in Montreal, Philippe-Pinel, determined that the 20-year-old presented a high risk of recidivism.
“From his youth Mr. Ford adopted a pattern of public contempt and violation of the rights of others manifested by his inability to conform to social norms. […] “wrote the expert, the judge quoted in his ruling.
Dressed in black tracksuits and sporting a bushy beard, the man declined to address the court on Wednesday.
He appeared emotional as the judge spoke, while his mother in the room was in tears.
