The USWNT is the favorite to win the 2023 Women’s World Cup according to prediction technology by Nielsen’s Gracenote data analysis.
Based on more than a million championship simulations, the data concludes that the USWNT has an 18 percent chance of defending a competition they won in 2015 and 2019.
Giving the candidates only an 18 percent chance of success, the simulation predicts the Open Championship is expected in Australia and New Zealand this summer.
Olympic silver medalist Sweden were the second favourites, with the data giving them an 11 percent chance of lifting the World Cup for the first time in their history, having been defeated in the 2003 final.

The USA and Sweden are in the same half of the draw and therefore cannot face each other in the final.
The simulation predicts that the final match between the United States and Germany will be the most likely, with the pair having a 5.9 percent chance of meeting at Sydney Olympic Stadium on August 20.
The two teams are the most successful nations in the history of the Women’s World Cup, having won six of the eight previous tournaments between them, but they have never met in the final.
The United States is vying to become the first team to win three consecutive World Cup titles and the fifth overall title in Australia and New Zealand this summer. Vlatko Andonovski’s squad will be without captain Becky Sauerbrunn due to injury, while the World Cup will be the final for retiring Megan Rapinoe.
The simulation, which correctly predicted that England would win Euro 2022 last summer, made the Lionesses the fourth favorites for the tournament with an eight percent chance of winning, behind the United States, Germany and France.
Data made it to the quarter-finals as the most likely outcome for Sarina Wiegmann’s side, given they are on course to face the all-powerful Germany in the quarter-finals.
Simon Gleave, Head of Analysis at Gracenote, said: “Our simulations confirm that the 2023 World Cup is likely to be an open and highly competitive tournament. There is a strong challenge for champions and favorites USA from Europe and it has boosted Australia’s home advantage to possibly seventh. to win the championship.”
The Women’s World Cup starts on July 20.
