A mother from the Parc-Extension neighborhood in Montreal who was surrounded by bullets overnight Thursday into Friday says she is “scared” and “shocked” to have come so close to death.

“A shot was fired at my bedroom window where I was sleeping with my husband. I thank God for saving us. He is the one who saved us,” says the woman, tears in her eyes.

The woman says she fell out of bed around 2 a.m. when she heard gunshots. Her husband, who was seriously ill, was lying next to her, terrified.

“I reached for my phone in the dark and dialed 911. I said there were guns firing at us,” continues the terrified mother, who requested anonymity.

When they arrived at the scene, police found several shell casings on the floor and noted impacts on the window of the residence.

“Here, my closet door was riddled with bullets. Even my clothes are torn inside,” laments the owner of the house, whose windows were also broken.

“My head is spinning just thinking about it. I took medicine to stop the spinning,” she explained, her head in her hands.
