The West Edmonton Mall, one of the largest malls in North America, was placed on lockdown for several hours after a shooting erupted Monday night, injuring three people.
Around 7:40 p.m., police received a call about a shooting at the West Edmonton Mall.
When police arrived, they found three people with gunshot wounds. They were taken to hospital, but the injuries were not life-threatening, said Alberta Police spokesperson Daniel Dames.
Following the shooting, a mall lockdown was initiated to keep customers and employees safe.
Members of the tactical unit inspected the control room to ensure the situation was safe before clearing it, the spokesperson continued. Employees and customers were evacuated.

According to the first information, it will be a targeted event and the people involved are known to each other.
