Environment Canada has issued a special weather forecast for many areas announcing snow and rough road conditions early in the week, especially since motorists have not yet installed their winter tires.
“As this represents the first snow of the season, travel may be problematic on some sections of the roadway,” the federal agency pointed out on its website.
Slushy snow accompanied by rain with a temperature of 5 degrees is forecast for most of Montreal, while parts of western Quebec could end up with 2 centimeters of snow accumulation in Outaus and Abidbie-Demiscamingue in the morning.
Accumulations will be heavier in parts of the center and east of the province, such as Charlevoix, Saguenay, Beauce and Bas-Saint-Laurent, where 5 to 10 centimeters of snow is expected on Monday.
According to the federal agency, in Quebec and Estrie, snow piled up in hilly terrain with a 5-millimeter white coat at temperatures 1 degree and 5 degrees colder, respectively.
The sun will return to most areas on Tuesday, especially in the south and center of the province, but temperatures will remain cool, with temperatures not exceeding 4 degrees in Montreal and 2 degrees in Quebec.
