Follow Xbox news before the show

Tokyo Game Show 2023 won’t start for another few hours, and the Xbox digital stream won’t start for a few hours after that. In the meantime, feel free to follow all the latest news in the Xbox space. Spoiler alert: A a lot It was happening. The world of video games has been buzzing, and much of that movement has to do with Xbox. Here are some recent stories to excite you before the main event:

  • Recap of every recent Microsoft leak. Microsoft has seen a lot of leaks lately, but most of them have been in Xbox land. Accidentally uploaded documents from the recent Xbox vs FTC case regarding Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard have revealed a lot of information about Xbox’s potential future plans, including new consoles, controllers, games, and more.
  • Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty review. The next era of Cyberpunk 2077 has finally arrived, with Update 2.0 arriving to players tomorrow and the Phantom Liberty expansion arriving next week. Finally, CP2077 is the place players were hoping would return in 2020; That means it’s a very fun sci-fi RPG and 100% worth playing (or revisiting).
  • Workers hope Microsoft will commit to unions. One of the major impacts of Microsoft’s attempt to acquire Activision Blizzard is an industry-wide shift in thinking toward unions. Microsoft has taken a neutral stance on unionization at Activision Blizzard, and workers — at Xbox and Activision Blizzard — are hopeful that this positive change will continue, and perhaps even improve, after the acquisition is complete.
  • Xbox Game Pass keeps getting new games. Xbox Game Pass isn’t slowing down for anyone, and that means new games for players to enjoy. Lies of P, Party Animals, Gotham Knights, The Lamplighter’s League, and Payday 3 are just a few of the recent or upcoming additions to the subscription service.
  • Accessibility is important in Forza Motorsport. I recently previewed Forza Motorsport (2023), and what impressed me most was how accessible and accessible the upcoming simulation racing game from Turn 10 Studios is. A significant investment in superior accessibility could mean great things for the genre and video games in general, with Forza Motorsport being one of the most accessible games I’ve ever played.
  • Unity makes a controversial change, and developers hate it. The biggest controversy in the gaming world recently was undoubtedly Unity announcing a per-install fee for any successful game created using its game engine, which led to massive backlash from developers and the community. This policy change could have significant negative impacts on indie games and Xbox Game Pass, but Unity may still push back on the decision. Even if it did, the trust would have been broken.
  • Resident Evil 4: Separate Ways DLC preview. Resident Evil 4 is one of my favorite games from 2023, and it’s about to get its first DLC for its proper story, Separate Ways. This DLC makes the remake’s content more complete than the original, and will allow players to finish the story in the mysterious place of Ada Wong. It looks amazing, and I can’t wait to play the full experience.

Hello readers! It may be too early for some of you, but regardless, I’ll be here wide-eyed and armed with coffee ready for another Tokyo Game Show. This show has a special place in my heart because it was the first one I covered when I started at Windows Central just a year ago, and even though I’m not an avid follower of Asian titles (actually that’s a lie, I do like some Pokemon), I still found a lot to get excited about . I hope this year is no different. I honestly can’t imagine it’ll get any better this year for games and advertising, but let’s see if the Xbox digital broadcast at Tokyo Game Show 2023 is about to prove me wrong. Without further ado, let’s see what’s in store. – Jennifer Young
