We haven't heard much about Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered since its reveal in September last year, but now developer Aspyr has emerged to share more details about what players can expect – including control switches and photo mode – when Lara Croft shines Early adventures are available On PlayStation, Xbox, Switch and PC on February 14.
Writing in a New post on PlayStation BlogAspyr explained that it wanted to focus on “additions rather than revisions” when developing Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered, saying that it believed “the gameplay… [the originals] Khalida.”
To that end, it adds the option to switch between the “classic” tank-like controls of the three games and a more modern alternative, inspired by Tomb Raider Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld; Here, full camera control is assigned to the right stick, while Lara moves in direction based on the camera position.
Other additions include health bars for bosses—Apsyr reasons that their absence from the original games “may be frustrating for tougher bosses with massive amounts of health”—as well as new 3D in-world elements that will replace the flat 2D sprites used previously. The latest visual overhaul arrives alongside new real-time baked-in lighting effects, and new models for Lara and enemies (as seen in last year's Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered). Players who prefer the classic look of the Tomb Raider games can go completely retro if they so choose, with Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered featuring a toggle between the original and modern graphics – you'll find some new comparison images over at the PlayStation Blog.
Elsewhere, Aspyr promises over 200 trophies (which will presumably also be available as achievements on Xbox and Steam), including one for locking Winston the butler in a freezer. Finally, there's a 'Powerful' photo mode, which will freeze gameplay and allow players to position Lara ready for some shots, with graphics switching working here too.

I'll keep thinking about my old house share and this creaking Pentium or whatever, but now I'm “I'm going to create a new layer of memory to add to the whole thing. I can't wait.”
