An even tougher weekend is coming on the roads of Greater Montreal. In addition to the full closure of the A25 South for major repair works on the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel, there will be disruptions on the Honoré-Mercier bridge next weekend.
Updated yesterday at 6:02 pm.
The Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité Durable announces partial closures on the Honoré-Mercier bridge on Sunday, October 30. Only one lane in each direction will be open between Conway and Montreal for slab repairs.
These restrictions are in addition to the full closure of the A25 towards the south coast between exit 5 and the Île Charron entrance from 11:30pm on Friday to 5am on Monday. Additionally, all weekends, Souligny Avenue will be closed in both directions, between Dickson and Honoré-Beaugrand streets.
The A25 South Montreal will be closed between Exit 4 and the entrance from Île Charron every evening until October 28.
These barriers are part of the preparatory work for the new construction of tracks on the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel. As of October 31, only one lane of the A25 south will be open and two will be open toward Montreal. The imposition plan will remain in force till November 2025.
Traffic on the Victoria Bridge is limited to one lane as maintenance work is being carried out on the structure.
The planned closures this weekend could be felt most severely on the Samuel-de-Champlain and Jacques-Cartier bridges. Already, by the end of last week, traffic has increased on both infrastructures. The department encourages people to get information Quebec 511 for travel planning.
