Two brothers jailed for six years for beating and killing an Arab

Two brothers will spend six years in prison for violently attacking a Mississauga family man because of his race.

On July 15, 2018, Mohammed Abu Marzouk and his family were attacked by brothers Janice and Adem Korhamczyk, who called them “cursed Arabs” and “terrorists,” CBC News and City News reported Tuesday.

Mr. Marzouk was then hit in a particularly brutal attack that left him between life and death. His wife, Diana Attar, was also attacked, as was a friend who tried to intervene.

A Peel Regional Police officer who responded to the incident told the court it was the most violent incident he had had the misfortune to witness.

For their actions, the Corhamzic brothers received six years in prison for aggravated assault. However, they escaped the charge of attempted murder.

“I am happy that justice has been served. It’s a chapter in my life that I’m trying to close, even if it’s not easy,” Mohammed Abu Marzouk commented after the sentencing on Tuesday, according to comments published by City News.
